The Schools of Political Studies
Building on the experience of the network of Schools of Political Studies, the South Programme supported the creation of two new Schools in Tunisia and Morocco to bring a concrete contribution to the process of democratic change, by engaging the young academic generation, civil servants and civil society as multipliers for reform and seeding the future political development in the region.
The schools were set up as independent non governmental organisations.
The objectives of the Schools are to foster a civic and political culture based in shared values of pluralism, tolerance and open dialogue. Their working programme includes a year courses cycle on democracy, human rights and the rule of law taught by national and international experts and implemented in close cooperation with the Council of Europe. The alumni include young leaders from different backgrounds (politics, business, public administration, civil society and the media) interested in political processes.
